Description
-
“Affirmations!” is the annual women's program hosted by Sistahs Talkin' Back, the women’s unit of the Organization for Black Struggle (OBS) in St. Louis. Early activities of the women's unit revolved around the celebration of the March 8 International Women's Day with other coalition partners. OBS women decided they needed a locally focused opportunity for women to network and support each other and moved on to sponsor "Affirmations!" in 1990. This annual event serves as a community space for Black women to address social justice, health, systemic violence, and empowerment. The Motto is "celebrating the lives of women in a cultural and political way."
