-
Description
-
The Coalition Against Police Crimes & Repression (CAPCR) in St. Louis, Missouri, was formed in 1983 in the aftermath of the murder of Marilyn Banks by Officer Joseph Ferrario. Its main focus was justice for the Banks family. The grassroots organization also established three long-term goals to address accountability of the police departments:
• End police crimes and abuse: Work to eliminate misconduct and violence within police departments.
• Stop criminalization: Halt the unfair targeting and punishment of Black and Brown communities.
• Expose the prison industrial complex: Shine a light on mass incarceration and the profitable nature of the justice and prison system
