Remember

We Are St. Louis wants to feature stories of noteworthy St. Louisans. The WRSTL Biographies initiative invites you to create a simple biography about someone who is special and significant to you. This person might be a friend or family member; they might be historically celebrated; they might seem "ordinary" or "normal; they might be living or dead.  Imagine the WRSTL Biographies initiative as creating a small, local Wikipedia of sorts that lifts up often overlooked St. Louis stories, histories, and voices.

If you are submitting a biography about a living person, please get their consent and make sure they agree to being publicly written about online. These biographies will be featured on the We Are St. Louis website, a digital public history and storytelling initative co-directed by  University of Missouri-St. Louis history and English faculty.

Introduction to the Form

We Are St. Louis aims to collect information about a wide array of noteworthy St. Louisans. If you would know someone who has done great things--big or small!--and you would like to submit a biography for them, please use this form to tell us more about them.

We Are St. Louis biographies are meant to document and celebrate St. Louisans who might all too often be overlooked.

Who Are You Creating a Biography For?

In this first section of the form, please include information about the person who are writing the biography for. Answer as many of the questions as you can to offer audiences a robust sense of who this person is.

Write A Brief Biography

In your own words, please write about what makes this St. Louisan noteworthy. What should an audience know about this person? Why do they matter to you--and why should they matter to others who might discover them through this biography?

The significance of this person could be personal, familial, community, professional, political, or civic. We believe that there are many ways to make an impact!

For readability, we suggest a minimum of one paragraph and a maximum of three paragraphs. (Though we can be flexible on length as needed.)

Consider:

  • Accomplishments
  • Awards or accolades
  • Activism
  • Personal or professional achievements
  • Unique qualities
  • Family life
  • Community outreach

Photos and Other Media

Use this section of the form to attach up to five photos or other media that are relevant to your biography.

For clarity, readability, and accessibility for our audiences, we also ask that you share descriptive captions for each photo you share.

Who Are You?

In this final section of the form, share any information about yourself, as the author of this biography, that you would like to make public for the audience of the We Are St. Louis website. (Authorship can also be anonymous, if you prefer.)
