- Title
- WASHINGTON VOCATIONAL SCHOOL: SCHOOL BUILDING (OLD FRANKLIN) (1936)
- Description
- The Booker T. Washington Vocational School was the only vocational school for African Americans in St. Louis. In comparison to the Hadley Technical school, it suffered from lack of funding and was ignored by the City of St. Louis. It was the center for the African American workers union the Skilled Building Mechanics Association who petitioned for desegregation and equal opportunity in the segregated unions of St. Louis. It was led by St. Louis Alderman Joseph W. B. Clark Senior.
