Title: Vashon High School “Doin’ What We Do Best” Button
Description: Vashon High School was founded in 1927 as St. Louis’s second public high school for African American students. Located in Mill Creek Valley, Vashon helped accommodate an overflow of students attending Sumner High School in the Ville. The school not only provided a strong education but also uplifted the community with the musical and sports-related success of its students. Pictured here is a button commemorating one of the fourteen state basketball championships won by Vashon.
