“North Webster Groves- Black St. Louis History and Experience”
North Webster Groves was an African American community that was established in 1866 for recently freed slaves. The history of African Americans goes back much farther than its establishment though because of the slave labor that was used by John and James Marshall. Throughout the development of North Webster Groves, African Americans in the area struggled constantly for equal rights with their white neighbors but after decades of persistence, hard-work and a constant struggle they were eventually given equal rights. Through the fight of many and the struggle of all African American residents eventually did gain equal rights within North Webster Groves. - Creator
