- Description
- Donny Hathaway is a musical legend whose career began in St. Louis as the youngest gospel hit. He is best known for his compositions, lyrics, productions, pianist skills and vocals. His musical style varies from gospel to classical to rhythm and blues to rock. Hathaway is a “soul legend” who had several Grammy nominations and was awarded a Grammy for his 1973 hit “Where is the Love” and was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award in 2019. While he was born in Chicago, Illinois Hathaway considered St. Louis his home and where his humble roots grew into stardom. One of his most popular songs “The Ghetto” pays homage to his life in North St. Louis and references his belief in himself and how far he could go in the music industry.
