Wall of Respect by Leroy White
- Title
- Wall of Respect by Leroy White
- Description
- Based off the public art piece of the same name in Chicago, Wall of Respect (sometimes referred to as Up You Mighty Race) was a mural of influential black figures who fought for equality and justice during a time when St. Louis was increasingly divided. Established in 1968, Wall of Respect was at the center of the civil rights and black power movements of the 1960s and 70s, often serving as the backdrop for civil activists and valued thinkers who sought to improve the lives of black Americans both in St. Louis and across the country.
