- Margaret Anglin was a Broadway actor, producer, and director who was hugely popular in the early-20th century. Born in Ontario in 1876, Anglin rose to fame in New York performing classical Greek and Shakespearean roles. By 1909, Anglin began producing and directing her own productions of Greek tragedies to major critical acclaim. Securing Anglin to play the lead role of Rosalind in "As You Like It" for St. Louis' Tercentenary Celebration would have provided a huge draw for audiences.
