Extracurricular Clubs

Student activities and clubs are an essential part of any universities' campus life. UMSL's students are no different and have been creating and joining clubs since it became the University of Missouri - St. Louis in 1963. Student yearbooks documented the introduction of many new clubs as well as the failures of some short-lived organizations. With more than 75 recognized student groups currently on campus, there are a wealth of opportunities for UMSL students to explore and find their niche in today.

Language clubs in particular are one of the most popular types of clubs formed at universities. UMSL's Spanish Club in 1965 sought to encourage an interest and appreciation for Spanish language and culture. Likewise, the 1966 drama club - another common club type - sought to cater to students with interests in any drama-related field like acting, set design, directing, publicity, and so on.

The Student Organization Fair in 1979

One of the ways for new and current students to discover and explore new student clubs and organizations that exist on UMSL's campus is the by attending a student organization fair. From the Student Organization Fair of 1979, the Fall Expo 2019, and the Fall Involvement Jamboree 2023 there have been many iterations of this event designed to encourage participation in extracurricular clubs to enhance the UMSL student experience.

... And Now

The Fall Involvement Jamboree 2023

The 2023 Fall Jamboree featured representatives from more than 50 organizations and departments on campus. The Voices of Jubilation gospel choir, nonprofit groups, the Accounting Club, and the newly formed Chess club were some of those in attendance.
