Campus Founding and Development
The University of Missouri -- St. Louis’s founding and development was focused on the reach, goals, and will of the community. Those that had a hand in the creation of UMSL would consistently and unceasingly push for a location of higher education to benefit the communities of the city of St. Louis. They did so by the encouragement of enrollment, the allocation of funding to construct an expanded campus, and the celebrations or reservations of the community towards UMSL. The community was involved and considered in all aspects of UMSL’s founding, from its original vision, to its official opening and the physical expansion of the campus.
