The Ville is a historic African American community located west of downtown St. Louis. Once a thriving community, the banning of segregation laws caused most of the Black populace to move out of the neighborhood, leaving it in a poor state. Today, however, efforts by members of the Ville's community are rebuilding the neighborhood with the hopes of incorporating the suburb's history into the larger history of St. Louis.
